Add an amenity at no cost

Implementing hotel charging is simple. We'll handle installation and maintenance, guests pay per use, and your hotel enjoys an amenity with zero investment.

Increase daily rate

EV owners often belong to a demographic with higher disposable income, presenting an opportunity to attract guests who may be willing to spend more on accommodations and amenities.

Attract non-hotel guests to dine

EV charging stations attract EV owners seeking a place to charge their vehicles. These visitors are likely to utilize your hotel's restaurants, bars, or other facilities, creating an additional revenue stream from non-guests.

Get past their filter

Installing EV chargers offers numerous marketing opportunities that can enhance a hotel's visibility. Airbnb reports that searches using its EV charger filter grew more than 80% from 2022 to 2023.

I specifically chose Harborview Lodge for their EV charging facilities, and I wasn't disappointed. The Chargermate system was reliable, convenient, and made my stay stress-free. I appreciated the real-time updates on charging status through the app, which allowed me to plan my day efficiently.

The hotel staff were knowledgeable about the system and happy to assist, and it will definitely be my hotel of choice for future business trips to the area.

Managing EV charging with Chargermate has proven to be straightforward and hassle-free, which is important in our busy hotel environment. It's also added a modern touch to our property that aligns with our brand image of staying ahead of guest needs. There has been uptick in bookings from EV owners and we will be installing more chargers soon.

As a family-run business, we were initially hesitant about the investment in EV chargers. However, Chargermate's model made it a no-brainer, as it meant zero upfront costs for us.

An unexpected benefit has been the influx of local customers using our restaurant and bar while their vehicles charge. Some of the positive reviews they have left specifically mentioned our EV facilities.

What’s the typical return on investment for a hotel?
Our business model is for Chargermate to own and operate the charging stations, with drivers paying us when they decide to charge their vehicles. This means we cover the installation costs and ongoing costs such as for electricity.

Here's why this model works well:
- No upfront capital expenditure for your company. Minimal operational overhead for your organization
- Ensures professional maintenance and management of charging infrastructure
- Allows for easy scalability as demand grows
- Provides a valuable amenity without ongoing costs to your company
How will EV charging stations affect my property's energy consumption and utility bills?
There is no added cost to the hotel as Chargermate will pay for all of the energy usage associated with EV charging, either to the utility company directly or by reimbursing the hotel for the energy used. Our technology allows us to track how much energy is used minute-by-minute throughout the year.

While EV charging stations will increase energy consumption, we are also able to implement smart charging systems that can limit the energy usage during peak times and we can incentivize guests to charge during off-peak hours.
What is the process for troubleshooting if a guest experiences issues with charging?
The troubleshooting process for EV charging issues is straightforward and efficient to minimize guest inconvenience.

First, we have a remote monitoring system that will alert us to potential problems and we will work to fix any issues before a guest encounters them.

Secondly, we have a dedicated helpline to ensure that staff can quickly contact our support team for more complex issues.

Third, we will provide support to ensure that maintenance personnel are trained in basic troubleshooting steps, such as checking for proper plug connection.

Finally, we suggest the hotel have a contingency plan in place, such as offering alternative charging options, if the issue cannot be resolved promptly.
What data can we collect from hotel charging to support our sustainability reporting?
We are happy to share non-identifying data for sustainability reports, CSR initiatives, and green certifications.

Our modern EV charging systems can provide valuable data on:
- CO2 emissions avoided
- Total kWh dispensed
- Number of unique users
- Charging session durations and frequencies
- Peak usage times
Can hotel charging be integrated with other guest amenity offers or loyalty programs?
Offering EV charging as part of a loyalty program or at reduced costs for hotel guests can be an excellent strategy to enhance your service offerings and increase guest satisfaction.

This approach can help differentiate your property and create additional value for guests. Consider tiered pricing structures, where loyalty program members or those who book premium rooms receive free or more discounted charging.

Additionally, be sure to clearly communicate these offerings in your marketing materials to attract EV owners. We will work with you to regularly review and adjust your EV charging policies based on usage patterns and guest feedback.
How can we ensure fair access to charging stations among guests?
Drivers are typically accustomed to charging etiquette and following norms, so managing hotel charging shouldn't be much different. We have policy templates which we can share for you to implement.

In addition, our software allows us to ensure fair access by adjusting items such as:
- Setting time limits for charging sessions
- Implementing idling costs to a driver after an EV is finished charging to encourage them to move their car
- Offering different pricing for peak and off-peak hours
How does the charging payment process work for guests?
We tend to recommend that EV drivers pay us directly, and nopayments go through the hotel.

Our two most common approaches of payment are:
- Pay-per-kHW with guests using a QR code on the charger or our app

There are several other options which can be discussed if they are a good fit for your hotel such as:
- Free charging as a guest benefit
- Discounted charging for guests
Will the EV charge points work with every electric vehicle?
Yes, we use industry standard software and hardware so that our charge points work with the vast majority of electric vehicles in the US. Our Level 2 chargers use the J1772 connector, which is standard for most EVs in North America. For Tesla vehicles, an adapter can be used (which most Tesla owners already have).

Over the course of the next year, we will be transitioning to the North American Charging Standard (NACS), as it has been adopted by all large automakers in the US from 2025 onwards.
